I got my first parking ticket in New Orleans yesterday and I’m not even a full-time resident yet. Arg.
Stupid lesson to learn the hard way. My ticket was for improper parking. I parked in the grass in front of our apartment. It’s a two-way street, and I parked in the opposite direction of traffic. And that, my friends, will cost me $20.
The fine doubles for every violation and for every 30 days past due.
Well, now I know. Police are everywhere in New Orleans. Obey the parking laws.
I got one of those in Va. Beach for the same thing. Such a silly to get a ticket for. As long as you’re in a spot, you should be good to go in my opinion.
Yeah, it is a silly thing to get a ticket for. I can see how it would be a traffic hazard on a busy street, but I was parked in the grass on a side street. Lesson learned.
And, I paid my fine today so I’m hunky dory again with the NOPD.
