Growing up in NOLA, whether you are Catholic or not, the day after Fat Tuesday is Ash Wednesday. Some chose to get ashes smeared on their forehead, some may not. However, one thing most of us agree on is it is seafood season.
Crawfish, fish, shrimp, crab, tuna, salmon, oysters, scallops, frog legs and now even alligator are more notorious during Lent season. Yes, alligator.
Lent season is for 40 weekdays and ends Easter Sunday. It is simply a season of fasting, abstaining and repentance.
