This neighborhood map of New Orleans has been tremendously helpful. Where is Mid-City? Bywater? Uptown?
This map has the answers. Via NewOrleansOnline.com:

Mardi Gras is getting into full swing in New Orleans. We can’t tell you how many times our neighbors have warned us not to move our cars because we’ll lose our parking spaces for days.
Eighteen parades roll this weekend in the New Orleans area, according to MardiGrasNewOrleans.com. If you work today, no worries. You can catch the ones Saturday and Sunday.
This is a screenshot of the parade schedule for this weekend from MardiGrasNewOrleans.com.
It’s been a busy week for us. Movers from Williams Transfer in Tupelo came Thursday and loaded our stuff in Tupelo. BTW, it was snowing while they were loading. Brrrrr.

The guys then made the trip to New Orleans and met us at the apartment at 8 a.m. Friday. Friday, it was nothing but blue skies and sunshine in New Orleans. Nice change.
Word of advice to fellow newcomers: Make sure your moving truck has directions on roads that will accommodate a big truck. Our truck had to detour because of construction and the top of the truck pulled down a cable hanging overhead. Ruh roh.
We’ve crossed a few of these restaurants off our New Orleans bucket list. Looking forward to trying out the rest of the eateries.

From Eater.com (full story):
Here, now, we present to you the updated Eater 38, our answer to any question that becomes with, “Can you recommend a restaurant…”
This list is not the 38 best restaurants in our fine city, but it instead seeks to provide a comprehensive picture of where you can get a great meal regardless of mood. It covers the entire city with some lagniappe love for the West Bank, spans myriad cuisines and should satisfy all of your restaurant needs.
These are listed here in no particular order.
