Good margaritas in New Orleans

Happy Cinco de Mayo! We crave margaritas and chips and salsa on May 5. How about you? Lucky for us New Orleans has plenty of watering holes. Check out these recommendations from various New Orleans sources:

GoNOLA recommends eight specific margaritas around town. Of course, Felipe’s house margarita is on the list. The options also include classic margaritas and craft cocktails inspired by margaritas.

One of the recommendations is a margarita from Rum House. This is what the house margarita looks like (on the right):

Good places to get raw oysters in New Orleans

Happy Oysters on the Half Shell Day! Really, it’s a holiday. How do you like your bivalves – raw or on the half shell?

Our favorite oyster restaurants in New Orleans so far:

• 50 cent oysters during happy hour at Superior Seafood. This restaurant is right next to the streetcar line at St. Charles and Napoleon. It has nice indoor and outdoor seating. Happy hour is from 4 to 6:30 daily. It also has tasty frozen drinks.

Oct. 1 – today – is last day of the 2013 season for a Hansen’s snoball

Today is the last day of 2013 for Hansen’s Snobliz. The iconic New Orleans snoball stand is open today from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. before closing up shop until spring 2014. Sad face.
